City of Jackson Distressed Property Report | Seelio

The City of Jackson has begun aggressively removing blighted properties within its borders. Although the City has established a detailed process for assessing the condition of properties and making condemnation decisions, the process is lengthy and the public may not understand all of the steps taken before a structure is demolished. This can lead to misconceptions about how and why the City demolishes structures.

The Distressed Property Report team tackled this challenge by developing a number of solutions. We created mockups of a website that is designed to let citizens of Jackson explore individual properties. We developed an infographic and a brochure that explains the property demolition process. We also redesigned the condemnation notices that the City places of derelict properties to make the notices clearer and easier to read.
