Open Data Policy -- CID | Seelio

We were asked to create an open data policy for the City of Jackson. We worked with elected officials, city employees, and Jackson residents to craft a policy that would be feasible and beneficial to the city, and we worked to educate citizens and officials on the potential benefits of open data. Our proposed policy not only provides for proactive release of city data to the public, but also requires good metadata standards and mandates the use of a Creative Commons 0 waiver for all city information.

Our open data ordinance was unanimously adopted with minor revisions on May 27. http://www.cityofjackson.org/council-packets/minutes/2963
