Lego Sorting Robotic Arm | Seelio

Sorting Legos was always a hassle as a kid, so we made a robot that could do it for us! The Lego Sorter organizes legos by color and size using a TrendNet webcam and Epson C3 6-DOF serial arm. Using a machine vision algorithm, the webcam locates the Lego pieces, and sends a signal to the arm to go and pick them up. While the arm is carrying the piece to the box, the camera finds the location of the next piece to go get.

Throughout the project I took the lead on designing and implementing the machine vision algorithm in order to accurately detect the Legos, send the correct locations of the given pieces, and ensure the system met design specifications.
